Leonard Burtenshaw

Dr Leonard Burtenshaw is a teacher of music of vast experience. Starting as a school teacher, he gained his advanced academic qualifications (culminating in a doctorate) from the University of Sydney, and then embarked on a 25 year career teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, most recently as head of Music Education.


Since his retirement, he has become involved in adult and community education, most recently tutoring at the Central Coast Conservatorium in association with local orchestral presentations.

Paula Jane Byrne

Paula Jane Byrne has a PhD in History from UNSW and has taught at five Australian universities as well as working for as a consultant historian. She has published numerous articles and papers and specialises in the colonial history of NSW. She is author of Criminal Law and Colonial Subject, Cambridge, 1993 and editor of The Diaries and Letters of Ellis Bent, Federation Press, 2012.

Gregory Byrnes

Mayra Camacho is a Spanish tutor, who holds a bachelor's degree in foreign Languages Teaching. With more than 10 years’ experience, both in Colombia and Australia, Mayra has had the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of ages, levels, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. She is quite confident with different language learning approaches such as Communicative Approach, Task-Based Learning and Action Oriented Approach, being them the foundation of her teaching practices. This allows her not only to deliver her lessons in an efficient manner, but also in a fun and engaging way. Mayra believes teaching is a great opportunity to bond with her students, by sharing cultural insights about the target language, and exchanging life experiences. After all, learning another language involves learning another way to think about things.

Corinne Campbell

Corinne Campbell, has over 20 years international experience in the import and export of goods. She has developed a detailed and comprehensive understanding of international business documentation such as letters of credit, the legislation and international agreements which enforce them and their generally accepted usage.


She is a licentiate of the Chambery Chamber of Commerce, with a Diploma in International Trade. She has built a national reputation in the export of primary products working initially for such icons as Dalgety Farmers and Elders in their trading departments. Corinne is now Principal of xdoc (Export Document Solutions).

Emanuela Campello

Emanuela is a graduate in Modern Languages and Cultures (English and French) and she holds a Master degree in Conference Interpreting (English and French). She is a qualified language teacher (DITALS Level II at Università per stranieri di Siena, Italy). The DITALS Level II Certification certifies an advanced competence in Teaching Italian to Foreigners and is aimed at teachers working in any teaching context and with any group of learners. She has more than four years of experience teaching languages to kids, teen agers and adults at all levels. She has led a vast range of courses in settings such as the WEA, Co.As.It, Italian Cultural Institute and private language schools.

Jessica Carey-Bunning

Jessica has an Honours Degree in History. Her thesis was on contemporary attitudes of instability, change, and transition in England at the purported ‘end of the Middle Ages.’ She has also written papers on the 16th century Ottoman understandings of the Protestant schism; and the uses of pomegranates in the European Middle Ages.
