Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions by current and prospective students. If there is a question that is not covered by the below, please contact us.

You can enrol into a course or event by viewing our Courses or Events pages. Please note that only students who are 18 years old and above can enrol into our courses. There are no special qualifications or knowledge required for any course unless specified in the course description and there are no exams.

Our courses and events are split into 4 terms - Summer (January to April), Autumn (April to June), Winter (June to September), Spring (September to December). WEA Sydney is closed on NSW Public holidays and on the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Summer Term 2024: Monday 15th January - Friday 12th April (Main Program starts: 29th Jan)

Autumn Term 2024: Monday 15th April - Friday 5th July (Main Program starts: 29th Apr)

Winter Term 2024: Monday 8th July - Friday 27th September (Main Program starts: 22nd Jul)

Spring Term 2024: Monday 30th September - Friday 20th December (Main Program starts: 14th Oct)

If you have to miss a session of your course, you can contact us and we will let the tutor know. If you have to withdraw from a course, please contact us to by phone or email to let us know.

If you are able to inform us 8 days or more in advance, we can organise a full refund or credit voucher. If it is within 7 days of commencement, WEA is unable to provide you with a refund, but you can receive a credit voucher. If the course has already commenced, we are unable to provide you with a refund or credit voucher.

We check the viability of courses 7 days prior to the start date. If the course is not able to run, we will inform you that it has been cancelled by phone and email.

If you inform us 8 days or more in advance of the course commencement date, you can receive a full refund. If it is within 7 days of commencement or the course has already commenced, WEA is unable to provide you with a refund.

If you are unable to enrol on our website, please contact us by phone or by email. If you are enrolling by phone, we ask that you have your credit card (and concession card if applicable) details ready. WEA Sydney accepts all major credit cards (Amex/MasterCard/Visa).

You will need the Zoom Client for Meetings downloaded to your computer, or the Zoom app downloaded to your phone or tablet from the relevant App Store on your device prior to your class starting (Note: a Zoom account is not needed).

An email with the details to access the meeting will be sent by WEA Sydney at 7:00pm two days before the class starts. If you don't see the email in your inbox, check your spam/junk mail in case it accidentally went into there. If you do not have an email from WEA Sydney with your class details at all, please contact us and we will send them out to you.

In order to join the zoom meeting, all you need to do is click on the Join the Meeting link in the email or press Join Meeting on the zoom app and insert the Meeting ID, your name and Passcode in the boxes provided. If you are unsure if your device works, Zoom have a test meeting you can use to check if everything is working.

Please note: WEA Sydney can only provide limited technical support (such as re-sending meeting details), as students are expected to know how their device works and how to download and use apps on their device.

All discounted prices listed in our course catalogue or on the website are calculated from the full fee of the course or event you are enrolling into. If you are eligible for a discount, you cannot combine this with additional discounts; whichever entitles you to the lowest discounted price will apply only. Sitting in on a class is not an option. If you are concerned about the suitability of a class for you, contact us for assistance.

WEA Sydney recognises the need to guarantee that services are accessible to students with disabilities and has an accessible toilet located on the ground floor and lift access for mobility-disadvantaged students at the front entrance. We also have a parking spot with direct access from the street level which can be booked by students with disabilities.

If you have any special needs in any of these areas that will require assistance, please tell us when you enrol by phone/person or fill out the relevant section on the online enrolment form. Relevant tutors are advised if a student with specific needs has enrolled into a class.

WEA Sydney does not sell textbooks or materials required for courses, students will need to purchase these from their preferred supplier. WEA Sydney is not responsible for books or materials that may have been purchased for a course, or any personal cost or expenses incurred for attending a course if the course has been cancelled or the student has withdrawn.

You can download a copy of the brochure, contact us and request one be posted to you, or collect a copy from our reception. We can also add you to our catalogue mailing list to receive a copy each term.

WEA Sydney supports a standard of behaviour based on mutual respect for other people, their property and belief systems. No student has the right to disrupt the learning of another student. WEA Sydney reserves the right to exclude any course participant if it is deemed that the learning environment has been compromised.
