Andy Bromberger

Andy Bromberger (ASCM, BMus Perf) performed professionally for a number of year as well as teaching clarinet, conducting and running band programmes. In 2010 she started a music history series called Coffee Cake and Culture where she looks at the social, political and historical elements of music. She also leads tours with Renaissance Tours, gives talks at the Art Gallery of NSW and has a podcast called Coffee Cake and Culture - the music podcast.

Cohen Brown

Resume

Cohen is a lecturer in Bioethics at the University of Wollongong and a former tutor with Primary Ethics. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Philosophy and is currently a PhD candidate in Applied Ethics. His research explores questions in neurotechnology, moral psychology, human enhancement, and philosophy of mind. Cohen's work has been published in leading academic journals and popular outlets like The Conversation, and he is also a member of professional associations that include the International Neuroethics Society (INS), the Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP), and Sydney Health Ethics network (SHE). Cohen is a passionate and sociable educator whose dynamic approach fosters student participation. He believes that making learning enjoyable and informative is key to its effectiveness and retention by students.

Tony Brown

Tony Brown is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra, after previously coordinating the post-graduate Masters programs in adult education; organisational and workplace learning; and popular education majors at UTS. He has worked in the field of education for over 25 years as an administrator, researcher, advocate and teacher. Between 1999-2001, Tony was the Executive Director of Adult Learning Australia and between 2013-2017 was Editor of the Australian Journal of Adult Learning.

Ian Bryce

Resume

Ian qualified at Monash University in science (BSc, physics) and engineering (BE Hons). His career has involved applying science to spaceflight for companies including Hawker de Havilland, Optus and Asia Pacific Space Centre. He created several space courses and lectured for eight years at four universities. Recently he has turned these skills toward communicating science and philosophy.

Katherine Buckell

Kate studied history and politics at Lancaster University, before qualifying as a lecturer in adult education. She has taught for over 15 years, as well as working as a guide for Sydney Living Museums.

Luciana Buonanno

Resume

Luciana is a passionate language professional.  She has a Master in Translation and Interpreting Studies and a Bachelor in Modern Languages/Linguistics. Born and raised in Milan, Italy. Luciana loves Italian cinema, music, travel, and teaching. She has been teaching languages for over ten years in various universities and colleges across Sydney, NSW. Her teaching approach is modern, fun, and interactive. She uses a communicative approach so you will start talking (a bit of) Italian from the first day! If you want to learn Italian and are passionate about languages, then you will love her classes.

Ian Burnet

Ian Burnet has a combined Bsc. In Geology and Geophysics and has an interest in maritime history and historic maps. He is the author of six books on maritime history and the Indonesian archipelago including: Spice Islands, East Indies, Archipelago - A Journey Across Indonesia, Where Australia Collides with Asia - The Epic Voyages of Joseph Banks, Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace, The Tasman Map and Joseph Conrad's Eastern Voyages.

Glenn Burns

Dr. Glenn Burns left school at 16 for an apprenticeship in Toolmaking. During his 20s he completed a Certificate in Marketing at TAFE, and went into business. He subsequently studied Japanese language, moving to Japan to teach English and Japanese. Between 2007 and 2016 he completed a BA in history and politics at Macquarie University, a master of international security studies also at Macquarie, and a PhD at Japan’s Hokkaido University.

Ross Burns

Resume

Ross Burns was in the Australian Foreign Service until 2003. His postings abroad included a period as Ambassador in Syria and Lebanon (1984-87). He studied history and archaeology at Sydney University and recently completed a PhD on the architecture of the cities of the Roman Eastern Provinces.


He is preparing a history of Aleppo for Routledge as a companion to his history of Damascus. Ross maintains a website and Flickr site as an introduction to his photo archive of over 70,000 images which he is preparing to contribute to the Sydney University through the Near Eastern Archaeology Foundation.

Janet Burstall

Resume

Janet Burstall completed her Research Masters thesis in Political Economy at Sydney University in 2019, titled How capital and the state redefined the value of labour since 1975. Her research seeks to bring a critique of twenty-first century capitalism to the labour and climate action movements. She has decades of experience in public sector union and socialist activism.
