...Continue developing your intermediate French fluency and confidence with our Intermediate French: B1.3 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Intermediate French: B1.2 Course or have approximately 280 hours of prior study. This course helps you expand your ability to communicate more confidently in French while strengthening your understanding of key grammar and vocabulary needed for everyday conversation. It is ideal for learners interested in learning French for cultural interest or personal enrichment in a supportive and interactive learning environment.
You will practise communication in situations such as discussing memories, presenting sequences of events, defending a cause, and formulating critiques with solutions. Grammar is introduced naturally in context, including past tense combinations, cause and consequence structures, and time expressions. Vocabulary and pronunciation are integrated throughout, covering social issues, community life, and expressing opinions, along with key sound contrasts and expressive intonation.

COURSE OUTLINE
Communication
- Understanding a text; talking about a memory
- Presenting a sequence of events
- Defending a cause; formulating a critique and proposing solutions
- Asking for and giving an opinion
Grammar
- Past tenses: passé composé, imparfait, plus-que-parfait (narrating past events)
- Time structures: indicating a specific moment (à partir du moment où, le jour où); duration (pendant, jusqu’à présent)
- Time markers and prepositions (synthesis)
- Cause and consequence: grâce à, c’est pour ça que, comme, alors, donc, c’est pourquoi
- Prepositions: à, de (linking an adjective to its complement)
- Expressions: de plus en plus, de moins en moins (development over time)
Phonetics
- Sounds: /u/, /o/ (vowel contrast)
- Sounds: /k/, /g/ (consonant contrast)
- Sounds: /ʒ/ (consonant sound)
- Intonation: expressive intonation in exclamatory sentences
Vocabulary
- Speaking about your relationship with the language; introducing a French-speaking writer
- Words related to the labour world; memories and remembrance
- Words related to community life and civic engagement; protection of nature
- Exclamations to express opinions
- Words related to associations and community life
LEARNING OUTCOMES
