Workshop creativity is contagious and helps us push our drafts and improve our works. This workshop supports writers who want to deepen their storytelling and strengthen their writing voice. Through discussion, examples and guided exercises, participants explore how ideas, experiences and imagination can be shaped into compelling written work. The course encourages experimentation, reflection and constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Suitable for writers at different stages who want to develop confidence and creative momentum.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • A creative space to explore your life tales, write about one's real-life incidents, memoir notes, travel writing - turning experiences into engaging tales
  • Exploring storytelling fundamentals: voice, structure, character, and narrative momentum
  • Transforming ideas and lived experience into engaging written scenes through guided exercises
  • Developing confidence through experimentation, reflection, and supportive peer feedback   
  • Use imagination for both invention of stories and witness to our own stories
  • We also build the course, as we go, in light of participants' emerging needs and suggestions

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Leave with a story/idea or a well-developed story that you are keen to push further.
  2. Recognise they've discovered ideas and pathways they didn't know they had
  3. Have improved writing skills and learnt new tools and tips to revise drafts, move through blocks and rekindle motivation to keep on going.
  4. Feel a boost in their confidence writing and storytelling and have had some fun!
  5. Have completed a small set of work-pieces by way of class exercises and homework.
