TAESS00019 - Assessor Skill Set - Your pathway to independent operation in the VET sector

The TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set course is the minimum qualification required for assessors within the VET Sector. WEA delivers this popular Skill Set via Distance, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and customised corporate training. This skill set equips you with the skills and knowledge required to conduct assessments and operate independently in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, aligning with the Standards for RTOs.  These units provide credit towards TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and other qualifications that allow for selection of these units. The skill set includes three units, offering a comprehensive learning experience.

This skill set is ideal for:

  • Educators looking to expand their capabilities and take the next step toward autonomous assessment in the VET sector.
  • Qualified secondary school teacher this Skill Set could be your key to delivering training and assessment within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.  Secondary School teachers are no longer required to attain a full Certificate IV in Training & Assessment to teach and assess VET.
  • Trainers and Assessors in the workplace

Delivery of the TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set is conducted through our online learning management system where you can study at your own pace when it suits you. You have 9 months to complete your course (extensions available) but motivated students may finish quickly.

Units Covered:

  • TAEASS412: Assess competence
  • TAEASS413: Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEDES411: Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs

Course entry requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have at least a Year 12 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills
  • Have the ability to read and write English. If English is a second language, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. Contact us to discuss.
  • Have a strong level of computer literacy skills
