Hedonism is a persistent, attractive and highly influential philosophy, not least because of its emphasis on pleasure, the minimization of suffering and the pursuit of happiness. We look at its major forms from the ancient Epicureans to the modern utilitarians, and its many expressions in modern thought and culture.
