Continue developing your beginner French fluency and confidence with our Beginner French: A1.2 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner French: A1.1 Course or have approximately 20 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of French grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the French language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.

You will learn to ask and answer questions about identity, discuss your French class and learning goals, describe cities and neighbourhoods, and exchange information about where you live. Grammar and vocabulary are taight in context, including interrogative and demonstrative adjectives, possessives, negation, prepositions, and key verbs like aller, avoir, and venir. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with practice in intonation for questions, the sounds [z], [ə], [e], and common liaisons to develop clear and confident speech in French.

  • Interrogatif adjectives : quel(s)/quelle(s)
  • Possessive adjectives
  • Parce que (because) and pour (for, in order to)
  • Punctuation
  • Prepositions (for countries and cities)
  • Definite and indefinite articles
  • Prepositions of place and contracted articles
  • The articles au, à, à l’, aux and the cardinal points
  • Prepositions (for the different means of transportation)
  • Present tense verbs: aller, avoir, habiter, prendre and venir

Phonetics

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate effectively in everyday contexts, including asking about identity, talking about their French class and learning goals, describing places and accommodation, and discussing countries, cities, and modes of transportation.
  2. Use essential grammar and sentence structures with confidence, including interrogative and demonstrative adjectives, possessives, prepositions for place and movement, negation, and key verbs such as aller, avoir, habiter, prendre, and venir.
  3. Improve pronunciation and listening comprehension, focusing on question intonation, the sounds [z], [ə], and [e], and common liaisons to enhance spoken fluency and accuracy.
