Ready to move beyond B2 and keep building your French? This advanced French course is ideal for learners who have completed our Intermediate French: B2 Conclusion course or have approximately 400 hours of prior study and wish to continue developing their skills at an advanced level of French.

This course focuses on expanding spoken communication skills, deepening listening and reading comprehension, and consolidating advanced grammar and vocabulary structures through active participation, discussion, and sustained interaction. Emphasis is placed on improving flexibility in expression and refining pronunciation and natural French speech at an advanced level. While some written tasks may be used to support vocabulary and grammar development, this course does not focus on advanced academic or extended writing skills.

DELIVERY MODE

Language courses are offered in two delivery modes:

• Face-to-Face: WEA Sydney
• Online: via Zoom or Microsoft Teams

COURSE OUTLINE

• Consolidation and refinement of advanced B2 grammar and sentence structures
• Development of listening and reading skills through authentic French texts of increasing complexity
• Expansion of vocabulary and idiomatic language across formal and informal contexts
• Structured practice in extended spoken interaction, discussion, and presentation
• Exploration of contemporary French cultural and social themes to support advanced communication

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Understand extended spoken and written French texts on familiar and less familiar topics, including discussions that involve abstract ideas or multiple viewpoints
2. Communicate with increased fluency and flexibility in sustained conversations and discussions, demonstrating improved control of register and expression
3. Use a broader range of vocabulary and more accurate grammatical structures to express opinions, explain perspectives, and engage in nuanced interaction
