Continue developing your beginner French fluency and confidence with our Beginner French: A1.3 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner French: A1.2 Course or have approximately 40 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of French grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the French language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.
You will learn to speak about your family, describe people, talk about hobbies, passions, and professions, and explain basic health concerns. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, including possessive and qualificative adjectives, stressed pronouns, aimer / adorer / détester, and faire + du/de la/de l’/des. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with practice on distinguishing [e] and [ɛ], mastering nasal vowels [ɛ̃], [ɑ̃], [ɔ̃], and using accurate intonation when asking questions to develop clear and confident speech in French.

- The nasal vowels [ɛ̃], [ɑ̃], [ɔ̃]

Grammar
- Possessive adjectives: singular and plural
- The masculine, the feminine and the plural of the qualificative adjectives
- aimer, adorer, detester + noun/verb
- The present tense of the verbs ending in -er (summary)
- The verb faire + du/de la/de l’/des
- The stressed pronouns
- Avoir mal à + body parts
Vocabulary
- The family
- The physical and psychological description

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Communicate confidently about familiar topics, including talking about family, describing people, expressing likes and dislikes, discussing personal interests and dreams, and explaining simple health problems.
- Use core grammatical structures accurately, including possessive adjectives, qualificative adjectives in gender and number, stressed pronouns, faire + du/de la/de l’/des, and the present tense of -er verbs and key verbs such as aimer, adorer, and détester.
- Improve pronunciation and listening comprehension, focusing on French nasal vowels (ɛ̃, ɑ̃, ɔ̃), distinguishing between [e] and [ɛ], and forming clear, natural-sounding questions.
