Continue developing your beginner French fluency and confidence with our Beginner French: A1.3 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner French: A1.2 Course or have approximately 40 hours of prior study. This course helps you build stronger communication skills for everyday situations while expanding your understanding of French grammar and vocabulary. It is ideal for learners interested in learning French for cultural interest or personal enrichment in a supportive and interactive learning environment.

You will practise communication in situations such as talking about your family, describing people, expressing likes and preferences, and discussing activities and health. Grammar is introduced naturally in context, including adjective agreement, present tense verb patterns, and common expressions. Vocabulary and pronunciation are integrated throughout, covering everyday topics and key sound distinctions, including vowel contrasts and nasal sounds.

Communication

  • Talking about the family; describing people
  • Speaking about likes and preferences
  • Talking about yourself: profession, passions, dreams
  • Describing activities (sportive, artistic)
  • Explaining a health problem

Grammar

  • Adjectives: possessive (singular and plural); agreement (masculine, feminine, plural)
  • Verb structures: aimer, adorer, détester + noun/verb; present tense of -er verbs (summary)
  • Verb usage: faire + du, de la, de l’, des; avoir mal à + body parts
  • Pronouns: stressed pronouns

Phonetics

  • Sounds: /e/, /ɛ/ (distinction)
  • Nasal vowels: /ɛ̃/, /ɑ̃/, /ɔ̃/
  • Intonation: asking questions

Vocabulary

  • Family; professions
  • Physical and psychological description
  • Activities (sportive, artistic)
  • Verbs and expressions for likes and preferences
