WEA Sydney warmly invites our members and the wider community to attend the inaugural Keith Suter Memorial Lecture, to be held on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Join us from 5:30 pm for drinks and nibbles, followed by the lecture from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at WEA Sydney. This lecture is free for WEA Members, or only $15 for non-members.
This special evening honours the life and legacy of Dr Keith Suter, long-time WEA tutor, public intellectual and passionate advocate for informed civic dialogue. Keith believed deeply in the power of ideas to shape society and in education as a means of strengthening democracy. We are honoured that Christopher Puplick will deliver the inaugural lecture, titled: Inventions, Ideas and Influencers - Shaping the Public Discourse in Australia
In this thought-provoking address, Christopher Puplick will explore the forces, technological, intellectual and personal, that have shaped Australia’s public conversation and consider how ideas move from the margins to the mainstream. We are also pleased that Keith’s partner, Jane Phelan, will be in attendance for this commemorative evening.
This lecture marks the beginning of what will become an annual opportunity to reflect on the power of ideas, the importance of civil discourse, and the enduring contribution of those who dedicate their lives to public understanding. We encourage members, friends and the broader community to join us for this significant occasion.
