Michael Newton

Michael Newton gained his initial degree in Medieval and Ancient History from St Andrews University in Scotland. After pursuing a business career based in the Middle East, he joined the University of Sydney in 1984 working towards his post-graduate degree in archaeology.
He has lectured steadily since 1988 on all aspects of archaeology of the ancient Near East, Greece and Rome, with the Continuing Education Programs of the University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney, Macquarie University, the University of Newcastle, WEA Sydney and other adult education institutions.
He has excavated widely with international teams in Jordan, Syria, Greece and Italy, and has led many study tours for adults since 1989, covering the ancient cultures of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, Sicily, Malta and Spain. Michael is Executive Director of WEA Sydney.
