Leonie Norton

Leonie Norton is practising and exhibiting international tutor in Botanical Art and Sydney's most prominent botanical art educator. Her qualifications include BA(VisArt), BA FineArts (Hons) Plant & Wildlife Illustration, Graduate Diploma VET (Adult Ed) and Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, UTS, 2001. She is also the author of Women of Flowers: Botanical Art in Australia from 1830s-1960s, the only published book on Australian women’s botanical art.
Her paintings can be found in private and public collections in Australia and overseas. Leonie holds regular specialised workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand. She instructs at Summer Schools in Australia, the UK, NZ, regional NSW, and takes art groups to Fiji and Bali, in addition to conducting an Online Botanical Art Course where she educates students globally. Leonie is past President of the Botanical Art Society of Australia. She successfully exhibits annually with the Botanical Art Society of Australia and at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens.
She has taught botanical art field techniques at Macquarie University in Sydney, and has been an International External Examiner for Botanical Art Certificate courses in the US and has been involved in selection and judging for Australian botanical art exhibitions.
