Nearly half of Australians have at least one parent born overseas, the consequence of generations of immigration to this country. When we look back at the waves of migration that have made Australia, we are exploring a particularly personal history because each of us is here because of those immigrants. Today we will investigate the push and pull factors that brought various groups here (Chinese, Indian, German, Italian, Greek, Vietnamese etc), their challenges, their contributions and their impact on our shared culture. We are who we are because of all of those who came before.
