Continue developing your beginner Spanish fluency and confidence with our Beginner Spanish: A2.2 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner Spanish: A2.1 Course or have approximately 100 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of Spanish grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the Spanish language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.

You will learn to identify and describe people physically, talk about relationships and similarities, express preferences, describe a home, and locate objects in a space. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, including irregular present verbs, comparatives, prepositions and adverbs of location, possessive pronouns, and verbs such as gustar, encantar, and preferir. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with practice in soft consonants (b, d, g) and consonant clusters to develop clear and confident speech in Spanish.

COURSE OUTLINE

Communication

  • Physically identify and describe people
  • Talk about relationships and similarities between people
  • Express likes and preferences, describe a house
  • Compare / express coincidence
  • Locate objects in a space, describe objects

Grammar

  • Irregular presents: c > zc; esta, ese, aqual; el / la / los / las + que + verb
  • Value a relationship: llevarse bien / mal con and caer bien / mall
  • Comparatives; prepositions and adverbs of location
  • Possessive pronouns: el mio / la mia; uses of ser and estar
  • Verbs: gustar, encantar y preferir

Phonetics

  • Pronunciation of soft b, d and g
  • Consonant groups

Vocabulary

  • Adjectives for physical descriptions, relationships with a partner
  • Ser, tener and llevar; parecerse
  • Types of housing; parts of a house
  • Adjectives to describe a home, shapes, styles and materials

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Describe people, relationships, and their surroundings, including talking about physical appearance, personality, preferences, homes, and spatial relationships.
  2. Use key grammar and vocabulary accurately in context, including irregular present verbs, comparatives, prepositions and adverbs of location, possessive pronouns, and common verbs like gustar, encantar, and preferir.
  3. Communicate more clearly in spoken Spanish, practicing pronunciation of soft consonants (b, d, g) and consonant clusters for confident, understandable speech.
