COURSE DESCRIPTION

Discover watercolour as both a creative practice and a meditative experience in this beginner-friendly course. Designed for those new to painting or seeking a calm, reflective creative outlet, this course introduces essential watercolour techniques while encouraging mindful observation and presence.

Learn how to begin with colour mixing, fluidity, and simple brushwork, while gently exploring how water and pigment interact through blending, layering, and spontaneous mark-making. Rather than controlling the medium, you’ll learn to witness how colours respond, merge, and flow, allowing mood, feeling, and atmosphere to emerge naturally on the page.

Through guided exercises, you’ll develop confidence in composition, balance, and expressive decision-making, while deepening your awareness of how colour can convey emotion and atmospheric beauty. One session may be held outdoors, offering a shared experience of observing nature and painting in response to the environment. The meeting point for this session will be announced in class by the tutor.

This course offers a supportive, step-by-step introduction to watercolour as a mindful, contemplative, and expressive practice—perfect for beginners seeking both skill development and creative wellbeing.
