We are all governed by laws, yet the process by which they are made can seem distant or obscure. This course offers a clear introduction to how laws are created in Australia’s federal Parliament, and why that process matters for public life.
You’ll explore where ideas for laws come from, who drafts them, how they move through Parliament, and the part played by political parties, the public service, pressure groups, the courts and the Crown. A practical course for anyone wanting a better grasp of how Australian democracy works.
