Continue developing your beginner Italian fluency and confidence with our Beginner Italian: A1.3 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner Italian: A1.2 Course or have approximately 40 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of Italian grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the Italian language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.

You will learn to book a room, ask about prices, give and receive information, describe a room or apartment, talk about daily activities, festivities, and celebrations, and express ownership. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, covering c’è/ci sono, potere, venire, reflexive verbs, possessive adjectives, prepositions of time (da... a), prepositions with articles, adverbs and expressions of time, and idioms with fare. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with practice in double consonants (b, c, d, g, p, t, z) and Italian sound patterns (gh, gu, ch, qu) to develop clear and confident speech in Italian.

  • There is/there are - Verbs potere, venire
  • Prepositions of time da... a - Prepositions with articles
  • Interrogative quanto - Adverbs of time and frequency
  • Expressions of time with days of the week, parts of the day, months, hours
  • Idioms with the verb fare
  • Reflexive verbs - Possessive adjectives

Phonetics

  • Double consonants: b, c, d, g, p, t, z
  • Sounds: gh, gu, ch, qu

Vocabulary

  • Rooms and objects in a house
  • Distinct types of holiday accommodation

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate confidently in everyday situations, including booking accommodation, asking about prices, describing rooms and furnishings, talking about daily routines, festivities, and celebrations, and expressing ownership.
  2. Use essential Italian grammar and vocabulary accurately in context, including c’è/ci sono, potere, venire, reflexive verbs, possessive adjectives, prepositions of time and place, adverbs and expressions of time, and idioms with fare.
  3. Improve pronunciation and listening comprehension, practicing double consonants (b, c, d, g, p, t, z) and sound combinations (gh, gu, ch, qu) to enhance clarity and fluency.
