...Continue developing your beginner French fluency and confidence with our Beginner French: A2.6 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner French: A2.5 Course or have approximately 180 hours of prior study. This course helps you build stronger communication skills for everyday situations while expanding your understanding of French grammar and vocabulary. It is ideal for learners interested in learning French for cultural interest or personal enrichment in a supportive and interactive learning environment.
You will practise communication in situations such as talking about past experiences, understanding safety instructions, expressing emotions, planning trips, and discussing personal background. Grammar is introduced naturally in context, including past tense contrasts, expressions of obligation and advice, and sentence structures for emphasis. Vocabulary and pronunciation are integrated throughout, covering travel, emotions, and everyday interactions, along with key sound patterns and liaison in connected speech.

COURSE OUTLINE
Communication
- Talking about an experience; describing an unusual trip
- Understanding safety advice and instructions
- Speaking about emotions and feelings
- Planning a themed weekend; talking about one’s background
Grammar
- Past tenses: agreement of the past participle with être in the passé composé; passé composé vs imperfect (events and memories)
- Structures: expressing obligation, prohibition, and advice (including present subjunctive); c’est … qui / que for emphasis
- Nouns: gender of nouns
- Time markers: il y a, pendant, depuis, dans
Phonetics
- Sounds: /ɑ̃/, /ɔ̃/ (nasal vowels)
- Sounds: /z/, /t/, /n/ (liaison)
- Pronunciation: passé composé and imperfect
Vocabulary
- Words to describe a touristic activity; unusual sport activities
- Verbs and constructions for rules and recommendations
- Expressing feelings and emotions
- Characteristics of colloquial French
- Vocabulary related to personal and professional background
LEARNING OUTCOMES
