Continue developing your intermediate French fluency and confidence with our Intermediate French: B1.4 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Intermediate French: B1.3 Course or have approximately 300 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of intermediate French grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners looking to use French for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.

You will learn to speak about current affairs, understand information from newspapers, react to and expand on news topics, make suggestions, and express wishes and hopes. You will also explore contemporary literature and learn how to talk about a book you enjoy. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, covering the passive voice and nominalisation to emphasise information, the gerund to provide detail, the conditional for suggesting ideas, the subjunctive for expressing wishes and hopes, and the different uses of the pronoun on. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with focused practice on the sounds [ø] and [œ], consonant and vowel linking, and accurate pronunciation of verbs in the subjunctive.
