This course continues the study of Middle Egyptian, building on prior knowledge to deepen reading confidence and understanding. Participants further develop grammar, vocabulary and translation skills while engaging with authentic ancient Egyptian texts. Alongside language study, we explore cultural and historical context to enrich interpretation. Suitable for learners who have completed an introductory Middle Egyptian course or have equivalent experience and wish to progress their studies.

COURSE OUTLINE
- Understanding Egyptian verb roots and word order in sentences.
- The imperative.
- The present perfect sDm.n=f.
- The past, present, aorist, and future forms of the sDm=f.
- The passive .tw modifier.
- Simple verbal negations.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Read non-verbal and verbal sentences.
- Recognise emphatic constructions.
- Use the active and passive voice.
- Negate simple verbal forms.
- Read a biography from the Old Kingdom (c. 2500BC).
