The mix of population in the USA is reflected in its music. Musicians born in the USA be they composers or performers will lead us into many different musical genres. Classical music is represented by composers and opera singers. There are also compositions born in the USA created by non-Americans seeking a better life such as Dvorak and Rachmaninoff.  Country music is characterised by its ballads and honky-tonk and Broadway by its musicals.  Finally, African American music is represented by Spirituals, Blues, Ragtime and Jazz.
