Yellowstone became the world's first national park in 1872. The park is known for its wildlife and geothermal features; Old Faithful Geyser is one of the most popular features in the park. We first visit the Grand Tetons (named by early 19th-century French-speaking trappers) N.P and then head to Yellowstone.

COURSE OUTLINE
- Old Faithful – The geyser in Yellowstone which erupts on a regular basis.
- Wildlife – Bison, beavers, elk, deer and wolves all make up part of the parks’ ecosystems.
- Mammoth Hot Springs – A complex of hot springs on a travertine hill north of Yellowstone.
- Lower Yellowstone Falls – 94 m leap, forms part of the 38 km Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
- Colter Bay – Tourist village on Lake Jackson in the Grand Teton National Park.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Have a greater understanding of travel in the American west to visit Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks.
