Continue developing your beginner Swedish fluency and confidence with our Beginner Swedish: A1 Conclusion, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner Swedish: A1.2 Course or have approximately 40 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of Swedish grammar and vocabulary. It is ideal for learners interested in learning Swedish for cultural interest or personal enrichment in a supportive and interactive learning environment.

You will practise communication in situations such as shopping, describing the weather, discussing travel experiences, giving directions, and planning trips. Grammar is reinforced in context, including present perfect forms, adjective comparison, pronouns, phrasal verbs, and prepositions of place and time. Vocabulary and pronunciation are integrated throughout, including travel, clothing, household items, and transport, alongside pronunciation features such as vowel contrasts, retroflex consonants, and hard and soft vowel patterns.

  • Writing short messages (emails and SMSs)
  • Talking about trips, transportation, and traffic
  • Giving road directions
  • Discussing and planning a trip

Grammar

  • Pronouns: any / none
  • Nouns: plural definite forms
  • Adjectives: comparison
  • Verb tenses: present perfect
  • Adverbs: position and destination (home / at home)
  • Verbs: “to go”
  • Numbers used as nouns
  • Phrasal verbs
  • Prepositions: place and time
  • Present tense used for future meaning

Phonetics

  • Vowels: /i/, /e/, /a/, /ä/, /ä+r/ (vowel contrasts)
  • Sounds: hard and soft vowels with g, k, and sk (pronunciation patterns)
  • Sounds: retroflex consonants (rd, rl, rb, rs, rt)
  • Sounds: /ŋ/ (“ng” sound)
