The course is for any student wishing to learn the language for the purposes of reading and understanding the literature of an ancient culture. In addition, students may be interested in the linguistic elements of Latin that have formed the basis of many modern European languages. The language has also an historical interest for those exploring the development of modern institutions, including political, religious, social and philosophical thought.
