Ever wanted to be the life of the (guitar) party? This beginner group class uses the G4 Guitar Method's super-charged shortcuts to get you playing your faves in no time! Laugh, learn, and strum your way to guitar glory with fellow music lovers! Please note that you will need to bring your own guitar - a classical nylon string guitar is recommended as it is easier to learn on for beginners.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Introduction to the Guitar basics: tuning the guitar, picking, beginner chords Em and Am, Rhythms and Strumming to learn your first beginner songs
  • Introduce further guitar skills: such as reading music, scales and arpeggios to increase your musical vocabulary and technical proficiency.
  • Learn simple melodies and guitar riffs
  • Apply learned skills to play popular songs, focusing on rhythm, chord changes, and musical expression.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Identify and understand the essential parts of the guitar, tune accurately, and demonstrate proper playing posture and technique.
  2. Learn your first beginner chords such as Em, Am and execute smooth chord transitions.
  3. Apply various strumming patterns and rhythms to play songs in diverse styles, developing a strong sense of groove and timing.
  4. Read basic guitar tablature (TAB) and play simple melodies and recognizable riffs, demonstrating fundamental single-note playing skills.
  5. Perform a selection of popular songs, incorporating learned chords, rhythms, and melodies, demonstrating musical expression and performance confidence.
  6. Share your newfound guitar skills by playing songs with friends, and understand how to keep the musical fun going beyond the course.
