2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of author Jane Austen. With only six main novels to her name, her work is celebrated in numerous movie adaptations and theatre productions, with significant academic studies and large literary societies in many countries. This talk will look at her life, her family, and the places that she is associated with, such as Bath, Portsmouth and Lyme Regis. Jane Austen’s House is a museum in Chawton village, where she lived with her sister Cassandra, and her mother. Close by is Chawton House that once belonged to her brother, Edward.
