Explore capital letter-forms from Roman times to today. Develop classic and contemporary styles, create personal interpretations and complete an embossing project. Prior nib experience required.
Available Classes
The form of capital letters changed between ancient Rome and more modern times. This intermediate calligraphy course explores capitals from Roman inscriptions to later historical and contemporary forms. Participants will then experiment with changing letter shapes to create contemporary styles. This will culminate in the creation of individual interpretations. A project using embossing will further demonstrate the versatility of capital letters. The course is designed for those with experience using a broad-edged calligraphy nib and who would like to extend their skills.
