Paris is home to numerous cemeteries, both large and small, scattered throughout the city. Some of the most famous ones include Père Lachaise Cemetery, Montmartre Cemetery, and Montparnasse Cemetery. Additionally, there are smaller, lesser-known cemeteries across the city. The exact number of cemeteries in Paris may vary, but there are dozens of them in total. Cimetiere de Passy in the 16th arrondissement, is the final resting place of Chopin and Chanel and the Cimetiere des Batignolles and Cimetiere du Montparnasse also have many notable characters in history. Architectural styles vary from neoclassical to Gothic, and from Art Nouveau to Art Deco.
