This workshop walks you through the internet’s most popular social media applications – Facebook, Twitter (X), YouTube and Flickr.  By the end, you’ll have a good understanding of what social media is, which services you can use and when. It’s not an in-depth guide to using the services (those come in the workshop Social Media 2), but an overview of what they are and what they can do.

In this beginners workshop you’ll learn what social media is, and be introduced to the following platforms:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter (X)
  • YouTube
  • Flickr

Please note you must bring your own fully charged device, charger, a notepad and pen. All Tech Savvy Seniors workshops will be held at WEA House, with no more than 10 participants per class.

The Tech Savvy Seniors program is for seniors aged 60 years and above, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander elders aged 50 years and above in NSW who:

  • Have little or no experience in using technologies
  • Require additional skills and confidence to use and adapt to new technologies

This program (held in partnership with the NSW Government and Telstra) delivers government-funded digital literacy training to seniors so they can develop the skills and confidence to access information and services online, or connect with family and friends.
