You’ve heard of the internet but aren’t really sure of what it can offer you, let alone how to get connected to it, which type of internet connection to choose, or how to use it. This workshop explains it all.  This session will walk you through the very basics of the internet: how it works, how to get online and how to surf the web.  At the end, you should be able to sign up for an internet service and access and search the internet on your tablet or smartphone.

In this beginners workshop you’ll learn how to:

  • get connected to the internet
  • start up your web browser
  • load a web page and use the Scroll bar to move up and down the page
  • how to navigate using links (and what they are)
  • perform a basic internet search
  • go backwards and forwards through pages you’ve already visited

Please note you must bring your own fully charged device, charger, a notepad and pen. Courses will be held at WEA House, with no more than 10 participants per class.

The Tech Savvy Seniors program is for seniors aged 60 years and above, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander elders aged 50 years and above in NSW who:

  •  Have little or no experience in using technologies
  •  Require additional skills and confidence to use and adapt to new technologies

This program (held in partnership with the NSW Government and Telstra) delivers government-funded digital literacy training to seniors so they can develop the skills and confidence to access information and services online, or connect with family and friends.
