Portuguese Intermediate 1 (A2)

This course is a continuation from Portuguese Beginners Consolidation course and is for any student wishing to improve the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 80 hours (or equivalent) of Portuguese required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build general basic comprehension and communication skills in intermediate Portuguese.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Use specific basic language structures and vocabulary to provide physical and cultural descriptions (e.g city, town, touristic attractions) and to provide directions.
  2. Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  3. Describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
  4. Provide very basic advice and personal opinion relating to aspects of culture and current issues.
