This course is a continuation from Italian Intermediate Revision and is for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 220 hours of Italian required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build general advanced comprehension and communication skills in Italian and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

Unit 1

  • Expressing disappointment/resignation and one’s opinion
  • Asking and giving permission
  • Asking and giving something on loan
  • Expressing doubts and approvals

Unit 2

  • Talking about the state of the planet, as air and water pollution, and the effects in our lives
  • Asking for help
  • Complaining
  • Expressing surprise and disapproval
  • Asking about something’s appearance
  • Illustrate the positive and negative aspects of something
  • Define the geographical location of a place

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
  2. Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
  3. Produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
  4. Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
