For many people, CDs, DVDs, books, tapes and other physical media are becoming a thing of the past. Today you can download movies, music, television shows and books from the internet with-out leaving your home. You can also get new apps and games for your computer very easily, without ever having to step into a store. This workshop walks you through how to join that revolution.
In this intermediate-level workshop you will learn how to:
- Download and install iTunes*
- Choose and download your media (for e.g. music, movies, TV shows, podcasts or audiobooks)
- View or listen to your downloads
- Downloading other apps
* iTunes is an app that can be downloaded from the iTunes website. You first have to download the app, install it, then create an account with iTunes. There is both free and paid media on iTunes. If you want to download any paid media, you will need a credit card. This workshop, we’ll show you how you can pay for media, although you won’t have to actually buy anything!
- Your fully charged iPad, tablet or smartphone, and its charger
- An email address; either the Gmail account created in the Introduction to Email Part 1 workshop, or another email account.
- A credit card for setting up an iTunes account (if you already have an iTunes account, you won’t need this.
- Notepad and pen
Courses will be held at WEA House, with no more than 10 participants per class.
The Tech Savvy Seniors program is for seniors aged 60 years and above, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander elders aged 50 years and above in NSW who:
- Have little or no experience in using technologies
- Require additional skills and confidence to use and adapt to new technologies
This program (held in partnership with the NSW Government and Telstra) delivers government-funded digital literacy training to seniors so they can develop the skills and confidence to access information and services online, or connect with family and friends.
