Dr Lane is a Visiting Senior Fellow of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore and has been visiting Indonesia since 1969. He is the author of several books on Indonesia, including Unfinished Nation: Indonesia Before and After Suharto; Catastrophe in Indonesia; Indonesia and Not, Poems and Otherwise: Anecdotes Scattered; and An Introduction to the Politics of the Indonesian Union Movement. He is also the translator of the four classic novels of Indonesia’s greatest writer, the late Pramoedya Ananta Toer. He has lectured in Australia, U.S. Philippines, Singaporean and Indonesian Universities.
