A Night in Toledo

Toledo was the capital of Spain until 1561, and the move to Madrid protected many of the city’s mediaeval buildings and narrow streets from ugly redevelopment. Today the city is only 28 minutes from Madrid by high-speed train, but because Toledo is the end of the line, many tourists bypass the city to go south or east to the more- visited cities of Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Malaga. Tonight we will see some of what they are missing. [More]

Tonight we explore the city with a map in our hands; we visit many of these sights, then go a few km south to visit George Washington’s plantation at Mount Vernon on 4th July to share in the ceremonies and meet George himself, or at least his avatar.
