WordPress - Mastering the Basics

What is WordPress? How does it work? Site Templates, the good, the bad and the ugly! Security, fact or fiction! Is it really FREE? - You get what you pay for! Do you want to start a WordPress site or have tried and it is just lying there dormant? Did a caring person set a site up for you? If you want to start a fresh or complete an existing web site project or blog for personal, social, community or commercial reasons then this is the course for you!

It is recommended that students of all competencies have a basic plan for their website. Web site design preparation should include looking at many web sites that have similar intent and functionality, as you would like to incorporate as well as your digital content access ie. text and images you want to use. Using A4 paper, replicate your site pages and note what content you would like on each page ie home, contact and a basic menu or navigation list. Make it logical!

This class will be delivered online via the online platform Zoom. Enrolling students need to ensure they have an email, a reliable internet connection, microphone/speakers and access to a separate tablet, smartphone or computer that can be used to join the Zoom meeting in addition to using their computer/laptop during the course to access WordPress.
