PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Define the distinguishing characteristics of a mystery
  2. Outline the history of the mystery genre to the late 20th century.
  3. Identify the key contributors to the evolution of the mystery genre.
  4. Identify the contributions of Australians, and of women writers, in the origins of mystery stories.
  5. Evaluate the significance and quality of some of the most influential mystery writers.
  6. Discuss favourite mystery authors and books.
