Then there’s the matter of working out the key players involved, including the main character and any secondary (or even tertiary) characters. Each of these elements, let alone the story’s climax, will also be determined by the length and genre of the narrative itself. By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Understand how genre and story length can determine the way in which a narrative’s plot is planned, structured and developed
- Use some of the theories on plot development in creative writing as a helpful tool, rather than a set requirement that needs to be adhered to
- Compose an engaging and authentic story with a well-thought out plot
