Module 2: Workplace Assessment and Validation

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration. This qualification consists of 10 units of competency. Further details can be found at

WEA Sydney will deliver this qualification in three Modules. A Learner can complete the three modules in any order.


  1. Appropriate English language skills to comprehend course content and to undertake assessment projects
  2. Subject matter expertise in an area where the learner intends to train
  3. Time availability (estimated 600 hours) to undertake and complete all classes, at-home study and assessment projects (Avg 200 hours per module)

MODULE 2 – Assessment

  • TAEASS401B Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402B Assess competence
  • TAEASS403B Participate in assessment validation

Learn about planning assessment activities and processes; get to understand how to assess competence in the workplace according to national benchmarks. You will demonstrate your skills in contributing to assessment by creating assessment instruments and participate in assessment validation.

The learning pathway for the three modules shall consist of face-to-face delivery of 90 hours (30 hours in each module) involving class room demonstrations; discussions; practical tasks; group activities; Q & A and one-on-one support. The Learner is also expected to conduct further self-paced learning activities consisting of approx 510 hours, depending on the individual; this may include: research, workplace activities and assessment projects

A Learner will be required to provide a USI in order to participate in assessments.

To participate in assessment, candidates will be required to produce valid official photo identification (Passport/Driver’s Licence or RMS PhotoCard). No photo ID – No Statement

This course is suitable for:

  • Someone intending to deliver training in an AQF qualification in an RTO
  • A person who intends to work in a corporate training environment
