This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the minimum qualification required to work as a trainer/assessor in a structured training environment such as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE. It is also relevant for those wishing to deliver one-on-one mentoring to staff, coaching students or training of apprentices or trainees. Successful participants will also be qualified to conduct workplace assessments and skills audits.

The course runs for two 5 week programs - broken in the middle by an interval where assignments will need to be completed. All assignments are completed online making it easy and portable to keep track of where you are up to. Learning is carried out in a classroom situation with further resources accessible through the on-line portal. Classrooms are located at 72 Bathurst St, Sydney, near Town Hall station. Practical teaching is assessed in a simulated classroom environment that is a replica of the workplace. This allows students to show that they can consistently perform by delivering a presentation to real learners, VET practitioners and learning environments, so no work placement is required.

Course entry requirements:

Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience. Effective language, literacy and numeracy skills to plan, research and write a range of documentation and present information as well as access to a computer and internet is also required. Please notify us during the enrolment process of any additional learning needs to maximise your potential.

Will you need to sit for any exams?

No, this is a competency-based course. You will need to show that you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received and will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all units of learning.

An Accredited Statement of Attainment or Certificates of Qualifications will be issued in hard upon being assessed as 'Competent' by the assigned assessor. Students must provide verified official photo ID before these are issued. The first issue will be free of charge and any replacement must be authorised by the VET Manager or Executive Director.
