The course is an introduction to Spanish for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use. Students will develop basic skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing.

CLASS PLAN
2 Day Sessions that aim to build general basic comprehension and communication skills in elementary Spanish.


CONTENT
Conversational Spanish and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.


Greeting and introduction

  • Main Spanish sounds
  • Greetings and farewells. Use and respond to greetings
  • Introduce self and others in an appropriate manner (Formal/Informal)
  • Ask and respond to others about state of well- being
  • Ask about people identities
  • Use the Spanish alphabet for spelling name and surnames
  • Ask about someone' nationality
  • Numbers 1-20

Grammar

  • Present tense regular verbs ar-er-ir
  • verbs llamarse and apellidarse
  • Demonstrate pronouns
  • Gender of nouns

Personal information

  • Ask about languages
  • Ask about occupations, professions , phone number, e-mal, post code, address, ages etc

Interrogative

  • Que + verb
  • Cual + verb
  • Numbers 20 to 100
  • Ordinals numbers

Grammar

  • Definite and indefinite articles
  • Present Tense Verbs Irregulars TENER, HACER, SER, ESTAR
  • Difference SER/ESTAR

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Speak clearly and be understood in basic Spanish.
  2. Demonstrate the skills, language and attitudes required for further study of Spanish.
