This course is for students with an elementary knowledge of Spanish, to help them to do the transition from intermediate to advanced. The aim is to facilitate the student to approach an advanced level in a pleasurable and relaxed atmosphere. Students will have the opportunity to review the intermediate specific skills and to further knowledge in order to step into an advanced level.

CLASS PLAN
Nine Sessions that aim to build high level comprehension and communication skills in Spanish.


CONTENT
Conversational Spanish and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

  • SER vs. ESTAR: revision, changes of meaning, passive constructions, specific expressions
  • Contrast between the 4 past tenses
  • Culture: clichés and food as a social ritual event in Spain and Latin america


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Communicate in fluent Spanish.
  2. Use advanced Spanish skills in conversation in both social and business settings.
  3. Exhibit the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Spanish.
  4. Demonstrate the skills, language and attitudes required for further study of Spanish.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY
If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
