It was a war to wrest the Holy Land from the infidels. But who were the real heroes and villains? A crusade is a jihad by another name and they are both driven by ideology and scant regard for the opposition. In this course we look at the Crusaders and their reasons for going to the Holy Lands to take Jerusalem back for Christendom. Or were they just seeking out new kingdoms in a medieval form of imperialism? We look at the evidence that we have today and the effects that these crusades have had on subsequent centuries and struggles.
