Learn linocut and vinyl skills in this entertaining and practical course. Suitable for beginners, intermediate and more advanced students. Learn the process involved in reproducing drawings, photos etc. as relief prints on lino and vinyl surfaces. Printing is done by hand (i.e. there is no press) and only waterbased inks are used. This workshop encourages ‘creativity’ by hand using the simplest form of printmaking.

$5 to cover use of studio equipment (paper, ink, rollers etc.) may be required at the start of the class.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • You will explore a variety of cutting processes to reproduce drawings/photos as prints
  • Bring an artwork (or choose a design from many samples on offer in the workshop) to cut and then print in black & white as well as a variety of colour rolls
  • Learn how to overlay colour, how to apply chin collé and simple registration
  • Create a stamp(s) with Ezy Carve

PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Explore a variety of techniques for cutting relief print surfaces and printing by hand.
