Roald Amundsen - Norwegian Polar Explorer

Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen was born on 16 July 1872. He famously reached the geographic South Pole ahead of his British rival Robert Scott. He was also the first to sail the Northwest Passage, second through the Northeast Passage and possibly among the first group of explorers to reach the North Pole. At the age of 56 he embarked on a search and rescue mission for a fellow Arctic explorer, but failed to return. For Amundsen’s 150th birthday anniversary this course will explore his life and achievements.
