Ramesses II - Egypt’s Last Great Pharaoh

Ramesses II is considered by many historians to be Egypt’s last truly great pharaoh. He ruled Egypt for over 60 years and there are more monuments surviving from his reign than from all other pharaohs combined. He is most notably remembered for his great victory against the Hittites at Qadesh and for the woman who was his favourite wife, Nefertari. In this lecture we will examine the reign of Ramesses II using both archaeological and written evidence.
