Positive Psychology and Creativity

Explore different ways that creativity has been con-ceptualised and understood, plus the emerging field of Positive Psychology and how it links to notions of creativity. Core constructs including ‘broaden and build’ and ‘flow and wellbeing’ are discussed and participants will have the opportunity to reflect on strategies which may promote both creativity and wellbeing in their own lives and those around them.


COURSE OUTLINE

  • What is Creativity? Exploring definitions from early Western notions of creativity through to contemporary definitions
  • What is Positive Psychology? Brief overview of PERMA model (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment)
  • Relationship of Creativity to Positive Psychology through key constructs including Flow theory, Broaden and Build and VIA signature strengths
  • Practical applications of Creativity and Positive Psychology

  1. Explain what the field of Positive Psychology is and how it differs from traditional approaches
  2. Understand how creativity intersects with the field of Positive Psychology
