This course aims to provide students with knowledge and skills to be able to speak, read and write the Portuguese language with more fluency. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary in given areas, improving written language, and developing a better understanding of specific cultural and social issues. The course uses group discussions and individual presentations by the students on various topics (culture, society, environment, etc.) to build on the competencies achieved in previous levels. This course will allow you to practice and improve your writing, speaking and listening skills in Portuguese through a wide variety of activities. It is assumed that students will have 175+ hours of prior learning.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Increased skills to use the Portuguese language in a more developed fluency and in most social contexts.
  2. Increased ability and skills in the areas of listening, writing, speaking and reading, required for continued study of Portuguese
  3. Acquired knowledge and understanding of Portuguese lexicon
  4. Developed practical skills and understanding of Portuguese grammar.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
