This is a continuation course from lower levels of Portuguese Beginners study, open to anyone wishing to develop their language skills. Students will develop enhanced skills in communication, reading, listening and writing.

  • Portugues XXI (Nova Edicao) 2 Textbook (A2), Lidel (2018).

CLASS PLAN

Nine Sessions that aim to build general elementary comprehension and communication skills in Portuguese. Classes will consist of a minimum of 1.5 hours virtual class time, together with 30 minutes worth of work to be completed independently. You will be able to contact your tutor by email or phone to ask for guidance and feedback on this work. In addition tutors may set additional homework.

CONTENT

Conversational Portuguese and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Speak clearly and be understood in basic Portuguese, in particular to give direction and instructions to Portuguese tourists.
  2. Increase the skills, vocabulary and study attitude required for continued study of Portuguese.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
